The new Fiat Grande Panda has caught the eyes of many with its retro design paying homage to the classic Panda 4×4. The Italian flair is evident in the design elements such as the Fiat logo on the front, the upright rear lights, and the ‘PANDA’ inscription on the sides, reminiscent of the old 4×4 model.
While Fiat has not released much information about the new Panda, we do know that it is 3.99 meters long and shares its platform with the Citroën C3 and ë-C3, both part of the Stellantis group. This suggests that the electric version of the Panda may feature a 113 hp electric motor paired with a 44 kWh battery, similar to the Citroën ë-C3 which has a top speed of 135 km/h and a range of 326 kilometers, with fast charging capabilities of up to 100 kW.
Additionally, there will be a version equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine with mild-hybrid support, delivering 100 hp and 205 Nm of torque. This variant comes with a six-speed manual transmission and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in nearly 11 seconds.
The name ‘Grande Panda’ was chosen to distinguish the new model from the current Panda, which will continue to be available as the ‘Pandina’. In the near future, the Grande Panda will be joined by a larger SUV variant offering up to seven seats.
It is worth noting that all volume brands under Stellantis tend to offer similar vehicles at their core. The Fiat Grande Panda shares its platform with the Citroën ë-C3, while the upcoming seven-seater model aligns with the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross and Opel Frontera.
This strategic approach allows for shared technologies and components among different brands within the Stellantis group, ensuring efficiency in development and production processes. The retro-inspired design of the Fiat Grande Panda coupled with its modern features and potential future lineup expansion make it an exciting addition to the brand’s offerings, blending nostalgia with contemporary automotive advancements.
